Are you noticing the spots on your skin are becoming more noticeable? Are sun spots and age spots affecting your skin tone?
What causes Pigmentation?
General aging and repeated exposure to the sun, causes the melanin producing cells to lose their ability to distribute pigment evenly, resulting in dark spots and blotches to appear on the skin.
Dark skin spots, freckles, blotches and uneven tanning are all examples of pigmentation. This occurs primarily in areas that have most exposure to sun, including face, neck, hands, and arms and décolletage.
Other causes of pigmentation of the skin include:
Genetics – some people are genetically predisposed to skin pigmentation.
Skin trauma- skin trauma or damage can cause areas of pigmentation to appear
Hormones – hormone fluctuations, such as those experience during pregnancy can affect the skin quite significantly
General Aging – the aging process can lead to age spots and general skin darkening (melasma)

LASER PIGMENTATION REMOVAL
The Candela Alexandrite laser is used on lighter skin types. This laser utilises a specific wavelength of energy to safely target the dark pigmented spots while not affecting lighter, normal skin. The laser fires an intense burst of light to target the pigment lesions leaving normal surrounding skin unaffected. The laser light converts to heat to destroy the damaged pigmentation cells which turn darker over several days and then fall off.
The laser simultaneously stimulates collagen production enhancing the new skin which now appears smoother, clearer and rejuvenated.
What can I expect after my Laser Pigmentation treatment?
Directly after your treatment, your skin maybe slightly red and hot like you have suffered a mild sunburn. This maybe be followed by slight swelling in the treated areas. The swelling could last up to 12 hours and can be treated with a cold ice compress.
Micro crusting (flat scabbing) which appear as darker skin spots may occur within 24 hours. This is the first sign of healing, and will take 10 days to 2 weeks to slough off, revealing a clearer complexion.
You will be able to resume your normal activities the following day and foundation will easily mask any darkened spots.
How many treatments will I need?
Laser pigmentation usually need 6 - 8 treatments once per month.
Dermal Roller treatments will be 6 - 8 treatments once per month.
Chemical Peel and Microdermabrasion are excellent maintenance treatments for any dark spots/ pigmentation that you can have weekly or mouthly.
However it is still an individual process and depends on the depth and type of pigment.
Some will notice a 50% reduction in colour just after one treatment with Laser Pigmantion Removal & Dermal Roller.
Are there any risks or side effects with the laser?
Certain medications may affect your laser treatment if they are photosensitive (such as Roaccutane and Retin A) which can cause pigmentation. If you are taking any medications it is best to inform your Laser specialist so they can ensure the best possible treatment results for you.
Are there any pre or post care instructions with the pigmentation removal treatment?

Our MicroPlus microdermabrasion machine is the newest in the market and uses Sonophoresis, an ultrasonic technology that significantly increases the depth and rate of active ingredients that are absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin to expose healthier skin. By infusing products, it helps to brighten skin, minimise open pores, reduce appearance of superficial pigmentation and fine lines, removes congestion, and promotes new and healthier smoother skin
Microdermabrasion treatments are commonly used in combination with other treatments such as chemical peels and facials that more target skin conditions of acne, dehydration, ageing, pigmentation.
Chemical peeling is an accelerated exfoliation of the skin induced by a chemical agent such as glycolic or mandelic acid.
The depth and results of the peel depends on the strength of the chemical agents used, the type of active ingredients incorporated into the peel, the skin type and the skill of the operator.
Superficial peeling agents cause an increased slough of the outer layers of the skin resulting in a mild to moderate peeling.
The superficial peeling will result in skin renewal and assist with the reduction or disappearance of sun damage, pigmentation, acne lesions, fine lines and wrinkles.
Moderate and deeper peels cause removal of the top layer of the skin, inflammation and regeneration of the lower layers.
